SUMMARY:Open Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\nComputer Science and Applied Mathematics, Physi
 cs\n\nOpen Discussion\n\nBecoulet, Huijsmans, Teunissen, Nkonga\n\nFollowi
ng the three talks the round table discussion will be focused on the findi
ng out the common interests and possible synergy in numerical and HPC comp
uting methods in presented different applications of MHD in plasma physics
including astrophysics, hot magnetic fusion plasmas and cold plasmas. The
HPC challenges and numerical methods for plasma physics have many common
features such as 3D complex geometry, a wide range of spatial and time sca
les to be covered especially when MHD instabilities are involved, highly n
on-linear physics, the problematic of modelling of contact discontinuities
(shocks) combined kinetic-fluid description, adaptive multi-grids technic
s, large sparse matrix solvers etc. These common problems and solutions wi
ll be discussed by speakers which surely will be useful for the wider scie
 ntific community.
