SUMMARY:The Use of Interpretation in Wave Forecast
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\nComputer Science and Applied Mathematics, Emerg
ing Application Domains, Climate and Weather, Physics\n\nThe Use of Interp
retation in Wave Forecast\n\nWang\n\nThe accuracy of the wave numerical mo
del is not perfect, especially for the costal offshore. The interpretation
is used as the effect method to correct the wave forecast. Here we presen
t the application of the interpretation used in the China operational wave
forecast to correct the forecast for the open seas and offshore according
ly. For the open seas, based on Bayesian theory, a basic model of the prob
abilistic forecast was established out of the deterministic forecast of Na
tional marine environmental forecasting center (NMEFC) and European Centre
of Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF). For the costal offshore, the me
thod of ” Representation Region ” is used to solve the fast at
tenuation problem of wave height along with the decrease of the water dept
h in the wave numerical models.
