SUMMARY:Computing Platform for Earth Science with Artificial Intelligence
 Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\nComputer Science and Applied Mathematics, Solid
Earth Dynamics\n\nComputing Platform for Earth Science with Artificial In
telligence Techniques\n\nSee\n\nNumerical methods for Earth Science simula
tion have progressed extensively over the years. As the models are complex
and compute hungry, in order to simulate a realistic model, one requires
very large systems. At the same time, artificial intelligence techniques s
uch as machine learning or deep learning have also been progressing at lig
htning speeds. Furthermore, as machine learning and deep learning are stat
istical-based learning techniques, one can use "least precision" technique
s of computing. In this talk, the author will discuss the various machine
learning techniques used for computational science and the type of computi
ng platform that will be needed.
