SUMMARY:JuROr - A Performance Portable and Parallel CFD Code in One Source
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\nComputer Science and Applied Mathematics, Emerg
ing Application Domains, Climate and Weather, Physics\n\nJuROr - A Perform
ance Portable and Parallel CFD Code in One Source\n\nKüsters, Arnold\n\nIn
general, CFD simulations are applied in fire safety engineering for the d
esign of preventive measures. However, several application scenarios emerg
ed that prefer real-time predictions during an incident supporting the res
cue teams. Real-time simulations of smoke propagation in complex geom
etries challenge engineers, physicists, mathematicians and computer scient
ists due to the complexity of fluid dynamics and a large number of physica
l and chemical processes involved. Therefore, we have created a real-time
system for smoke spread prediction. The implementation is written in C++ a
nd uses the pragma-oriented OpenACC programming model. The talk will
share challenges encountered and how they were overcome in order to develo
p an easy-to-maintain single source code.
