SUMMARY:CSM09 - Helping You Improve Software Sustainability and Developmen
t Productivity: An Overview of the IDEAS Project
DESCRIPTION:Poster\n\n\nCSM09 - Helping You Improve Software Sustainabilit
y and Development Productivity: An Overview of the IDEAS Project\n\nBernho
ldt, Dubey, Heroux, O'Neal\n\nThe IDEAS Productivity project (https://idea
s-productivity.org) was established to help address challenges to software
productivity and sustainability driven by the confluence of demands for p
redictive multiscale and multiphysics simulations, analysis, and design in
computational science and engineering (CSE) and rapid and significant cha
nges in the architectures of high-end computing systems (HPC).  IDEAS
focuses on improving scientific productivity by qualitatively improving d
eveloper productivity (positively impacting product quality, development t
ime, and staffing resources) and software sustainability (reducing the cos
t of maintaining, sustaining, and evolving software capabilities in the fu
ture)—thereby enabling a fundamentally different attitude to creatin
g and supporting CSE applications.  We are working within the broader
CSE/HPC community to help create an extreme-scale scientific software dev
elopment ecosystem composed of high-quality, reusable CSE software compone
nts and libraries; a collection of best practices, processes, and tools; a
nd substantial outreach mechanisms for promoting and disseminating product
ivity improvements.  We intend to improve CSE productivity by enablin
g better, faster and cheaper CSE application capabilities for extreme-scal
e computing. This poster will provide an overview of the IDEAS project&rsq
uo;s approach and activities, how you can benefit from this work, and how
you can contribute to its further advancement.
